MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee men's tennis team is splitting time at the 2011 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American Championships and Georgia Tech Fall Invitational this weekend. A trio of Blue Raiders will make the trip to Tulsa, Okla., for the championships, while four will travel to Atlanta, Ga.
Senior Matthew Langley, sophomore Ben Davis and freshman Ettore Zito will compete at the ITA All-American Championships. Davis, currently ranked No. 115 nationally, was selected for qualifying singles and will join Zito for qualifying doubles. Zito and Langley also will participate in prequalifying singles. Davis went 2-1 in singles action last weekend at the Dale Short Shootout, while Zito and Langley each won one match.
The tournament begins Saturday at the University of Tulsa's Case Tennis Center and runs through Oct. 9. Live stats and video are available here.
Sophomore Dimitri Pippos and freshmen Marlon Brand, Cameron Dickerson and Forrest Edwards are slated for the Georgia Tech Fall Invitational Oct. 1-3 at the Bill Moore Tennis Center. Pippos struggled in singles play last weekend, going 0-for-3, but picked up a win in doubles, partnering with Dickerson. Brand, Dickerson and Edwards each won a pair of singles matches to open their collegiate careers last weekend.
