MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Three Blue Raiders had multiple-hit outings, but it wasn't enough as the Middle Tennessee baseball team fell 10-4 to visiting Louisiana on Saturday afternoon in the first game of a doubleheader at Reese Smith Jr. Field.
Johnathan Frebis got the start and Daniel Palo picked up the loss as the Blue Raiders were out-hit by the Ragin' Cajuns 14-9, with seven of those going for extra bases.
Frebis left the mound after the fourth, allowing five hits and three runs, and Palo gave up six runs over the ensuing 2.2 frames.
Jordan Rorex led the way for the Blue and White offensively, ending 2-for-3 with a walk and a pair of runs batted in. Hank LaRue had three hits and Robert Lawrence added two more. Both also scored a run.
The Ragin' Cajuns struck first with three runs in the top of the second. Daniel Nichols laced a one-out double down the right field line, and following a Logan Preston walk, Brian Bowman cleared the bases with a triple to right. A Chris Sinclair groundout pushed Bowman across.
The Blue Raiders mounted a response in the fourth. LaRue singled and Trent Miller earned a walk to lead off the frame. Later in the frame, Lawrence singled down the line in left to bring MT within two, and Rorex kept the rally going a few minutes later, singling up the middle with two outs to tie things up at 3-3.
The tie was short-lived, however, as UL regained the lead in the top of the fifth with a Dylan Butler home run to left.
The Ragin' Cajuns added five more over the next two innings, with Sinclair playing a big role, doubling and scoring in the sixth and hitting a three-run blast to right in the seventh.
It looked like MT had a chance to get back into it in the eighth. Justin Guidry and LaRue singled to start off the frame, and Miller walked to load the bases with no outs. The Blue Raiders would only score once, on a Johnny Thomas sacrifice fly to center.
