Women's golf opens spring slate at Hurricane Invitational

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee women's golf opens the spring slate this week at the Hurricane Invitational in Coral Gables, Fla., hosted by the Miami Hurricanes.
The two-day tournament will be held Mon., Feb. 4 and Tue., Feb. 5 at the par-71, 6,018-yard Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club in Coral Gables, Fla. Monday will feature 36 holes, while the final 18 will be played Tuesday. Monday's first round will tee off at 8 a.m. ET with continuous play following through the second round. Eighty-nine golfers from 16 teams will be competing at Deering Bay, including five Top 60 teams - No. 11 Oklahoma State, No. 23 Baylor, No. 26 Campbell, No. 48 Texas State and No. 58 Minnesota.
The Blue Raiders ended the fall on a high note, winning the Blue Raider Invitational in October. Senior Ashley Haggard led MT throughout the fall with a 75.67 stroke average. Freshman Avery George also had impressive first semester, finishing second with a 77.25 average.
