BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Middle Tennessee volleyball team (7-16, 3-6 C-USA) fell 3-0 to Florida Atlantic (15-6, 6-2 C-USA) Sunday morning at FAU Arena.

Junior Chelsea Ross moved into fifth place all-time after leading the team with 11 kills, passing Katie Thiesen (1999-2002) with 1,267 career kills. Senior Monét Marshall finished with nine kills and a hitting percentage of .333, her fourth straight game with a hitting clip of at least .250.

Senior Ailime de Freitas paced the team with 17 assists while freshman Jacqueline Lux notched a team-best 12 digs.

FAU jumped out to a 9-5 advantage in the first set with the Blue Raiders tying the contest 14-14 after outscoring FAU 9-5 thanks to a kill from Marshall, an FAU attack error and a combined block from Marshall and sophmore Miri Shade to cap off the run. However, the Owls finished the stanza on an 11-3 run to capture the set 25-17.

Another Owl run was the difference in the second frame despite the Blue Raiders starting the set with a 5-4 lead after a kill from Shade.
With the game tied, 7-7, FAU put together a 6-1 run to take a commanding 13-8 advantage and never looking back, claiming the second set 25-19.

The Owls started the third frame with a 10-7 while the Blue Raiders strung together a 3-0 spurt after a block from Marshall , an FAU attack error and an ace from freshman Morgan St. Germain.

From there on, both teams traded points back and forth before the Blue Raiders went ahead 16-15 thanks to a kill from senior Eseta Maka. FAU responded with a 7-3 run to go up by three, 22-19.

The Blue Raiders came to with one, 23-22, but the Owls won the set scoring the final two points and capturing the match.

MT will conclude its road trip on Friday in Houston, Texas for a 6 p.m., match against Rice.
