Volleyball Falls 3-0 to Kansas State

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Middle Tennessee volleyball team suffered a 3-0 setback to host Kansas State Friday evening at Bramlage Coliseum. MT falls to 1-5 on the season as K-State improves to 4-1 on the year.
Freshman Haley Morton paced the Blue Raiders with 11 assists while junior Chelsea Ross led MT with 10 kills for her sixth-straight game with double-digit kills. Senior Monét Marshall and junior Rachel Shaughnessy each led the team with three blocks apiece.
MT got off to a solid start to the match with a 6-3 lead after an attack error and a kill by Johnson forced K-State into a timeout .The Wildcats would go on a 14-4 run after the timeout to take a 17-10 lead for their largest lead of the frame.
Although the Blue Raiders would make things interesting as they cut the lead to three, 24-21, thanks to three K-State errors and a kill by Miri Shade. But the Wildcats took the first set 25-21 on the ensuing rally to take a 1-0 lead going into the second frame.
K-State started the second set with a 4-3 advantage and never looked back as the Wildcats expanded the lead by as much as 11 and eventually captured the second set 25-15 to take a 2-0 advantage.
The Blue Raiders began the set taking a 7-5 advantage after Pannone setup Ross nicely for a kill.But K-State overwhelmed MT with a 20-10 run over the course of the final frame to capture the set 25-17 and the match.
The Blue Raiders will end their weekend tomorrow at 1 p.m. against Arkansas at Bramlage Coliseum before coming back to Alumni Memorial Gym on Thursday for a 6 p.m. affair against Virginia Tech.
