MT celebrates Homecoming week

Raiders welcome LA Tech and WKU
MURFREESBORO – Middle Tennessee opens a pivotal home weekend on Friday with a match against the LA Tech Lady Techsters in Memorial Gym at 7pm.
The Raiders host LA Tech who is just 6-10 overall and has only managed to win one set in their three conference matches so far this season. MT has one win, a three set sweep of UAB, so far during conference play. But the team will look to get back on track after three straight losses including two conference losses this past weekend to UTSA and UTEP.
LA Tech is ranked no higher than 11th in Conference USA in any offensive category. However, Alejandra Aviles ranks fifth in the conference with 4.35 digs per set and sixth in C-USA in service aces per set with 0.37.
Also, the match Friday is the "Big Blue Easy" match which means MT Mardi Gras beads will be handed out to the first 200 fans in honor of this year's Homecoming theme. The beads will have a "Beat Vandy" logo with the #TrueBlue.
Sunday the Blue Raiders welcome rival WKU to campus at 6pm. The Lady Toppers are currently 16-2 and are in the midst of a 10-match winning streak that includes a sweep of Lipscomb in Nashville on Tuesday. WKU is also currently in a five match winning streak over the Raiders, dating back to November 11, 2011.
The Lady Toppers have had a great start to the season, beating six teams in the NCAA Women's Volleyball top 100 RPI. Among those victories is a season opening win over No. 19 Wisconsin on the Badgers home floor.
Noelle Langenkamp is currently third in C-USA with a .396 hitting percentage while teammate Alyssa Cavanaugh ranks ninth in the conference in kills per set with 3.46. The back row has been solid as well as Georgia O'Connell is eighth in C-USA with 4.27 digs per set and Jessica Lucas is second in the conference in assists per set with 10.71.
Sunday is also a Blue Out, meaning fans should wear blue to the match. Also, True Blue t-shirts with a specially designed #TRUE logo will be given out to the first 200 fans.
