THE STORYLINE
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee is geared up for a pivotal three-game series against the Golden Eagles of Southern Miss to wrap up the regular season at Reese Smith Jr. Field this week.

Both teams are jockeying for position in next week's conference tournament. The Blue Raiders need one win to clinch the No. 2 seed, while looking to finish an impressive campaign on a high note under Coach of the Year candidate Jim McGuire.

MT also has an outside shot at the league's regular season title as the Blue Raiders enter the final series one game back from No. 13 Rice, who plays host to FIU.

The Golden Eagles, who are next week's host in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, are riding a 10-game win streak and sit tied for third with No. 19 FAU in the C-USA standings. The Owls hold that tiebreaker and play at WKU.

Middle Tennessee bounced back from last weekend's series loss with a 5-2 midweek win over Belmont Tuesday night.

Sophomore OF Brad Jarreau has hit safely in 11 straight games and is batting .500 (23-for-46) with eight RBI from his leadoff spot during that span. Fellow sophomore Kevin Dupree is riding a 10-game hitting streak as well.

MT's nine seniors will be honored during a pregame ceremony scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The series finale will also air live on ASN, weather permitting.

SERIES HISTORY
Middle Tennessee hosts Southern Miss for the fourth time and it'll be the first trip to Murfreesboro for the Golden Eagles since 2000. MT holds a 5-1 record against the Golden Eagles at home. Southern Miss holds the all-time series advantage 11-7 and won two out of three last year in Hattiesburg.
