MT's Streak Snapped by Marshall

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. – Middle Tennessee experienced struggles in many facets of the game Thursday, bringing their six-game winning streak to a halt with an 82-66 loss at Marshall.
Quavius Copeland led the Blue Raiders with 16 points on 8-of-12 shooting. Perrin Buford added 14 points and nine rebounds while leading scorer Giddy Potts was held to 10 points in just 17 minutes.
Middle Tennessee (14-6, 6-2) struggled from all parts of the floor, shooting just 38.5 percent from the field and 18.8 percent from three. The Raiders also committed 14 turnovers while only having three assists.
Marshall (11-10, 7-1) shot 45.2 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three, but moved the ball well with 19 assists in the contest.
The Blue Raiders committed a very uncharacteristic 11 turnovers in the first half, but a 10-point spark off the bench from Copeland kept MT within striking distance, trailing 37-28 at the break.
Copeland earned the start in the second half and quickly got to 16 points to surpass his previous career high, but he was one of few bright spots on the night.
While foul trouble hampered much of Potts' night, five consecutive points from the sophomore did get Middle back within 11 at the 11:39 mark, but Marshall answered with a 12-0 run of their own.
The Blue Raiders shooting woes would continue as they were unable to climb back into the game in the final minutes, falling to Marshall on the road.
Middle Tennessee looks to get back on track as they take on rival WKU in Bowling Green, Ky., on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
