MT seeking 10th straight win in series
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee will renew an OVC rivalry when it hosts the Austin Peay Governors Saturday afternoon in Murphy Center.
The weekend tipoff is set for 2 p.m. with Dick Palmer and Duane Hickey calling the 89.5 WMOT radio broadcast. Fans can also watch a live stream at CUSA.TV/RaiderVision.
Saturday marks the 69th meeting on the hardwood between Middle Tennessee and Austin Peay. The Blue Raiders (2-5) lead the all-time series 59-9, including nine straight victories.
Despite setbacks in their last two outings, Alex Johnson has torched the nets for the Lady Raiders. The sophomore totaled 19 points at No. 15 Kentucky before logging a season-high 21 points against No. 23 Arizona State, both marks standing as game highs. The Murfreesboro native leads the Raiders with 15 points per game and adds 4.9 rebounds a night.
Austin Peay (6-5) is seeking its fourth win of the year against an in-state foe. Tearra Banks paces the Governor offense with 17 points and brings down 8.8 rebounds per game, ranking second and third in the OVC, respectively. Defensively, Austin Peay limits opponents to just 62.4 points per contest.
Following Saturday's action, Middle Tennessee will wrap the non-conference road slate at Missouri State Monday. Tipoff against the Bears is set for a 6:05 p.m. start.
