MT cards best round on final day
TUCSON, Ariz.— In the final round of the MountainView Collegiate Invitational, the Blue Raiders saved the best for last as Middle Tennessee turned in its best day on the course of the three-round event.
MT cut eight strokes off its day two score to fire a weekend-best 5-over par to place 10th in the invitational at 37-over (307-301-293=901).
Jenna Burris and Hanley Long lead the way Sunday, each finishing the day 1-under par 72.
Burris carded four birdies on the final day, including three on the back nine. The sophomore placed 11th in the field at 1-over par (76-70-71=213).
Long enjoyed her best day of the weekend as the sophomore birdied six holes in the final round. Long finished the weekend 9-over par (77-77-71=225) to tie for 39th.
Samantha Gotcher also capped the weekend with her best performance. The senior used a pair of birdies to fire 2-over par in the final round to finish the tournament 10-over (76-76-74=226) and tied for 44th.
The Blue Raiders return to action April 10-11 at the Brickyard Collegiate in Macon, Ga. The event hosted by Mercer will be MT's final tournament of the spring before the C-USA Championships the ensuing weekend.
