Sadlowski 2-over through 36 holes
Round 2 Results
CHOUDRANT, La. – Middle Tennessee men's golf got some promising rounds out of its rookies Monday at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate as freshmen Palmer Sadlowski and Jake Marvelli are leading the Blue Raiders through two rounds at Squire Creek.
The Blue Raiders stand in 10th place after 36 holes at 20-over par (297-299=596), one stroke ahead of Southeastern Louisiana (+21) and three up on Conference USA foe Southern Miss (+23). MT is six strokes back of Troy and Central Arkansas, who are tied for eighth at 14-over par.
"During the middle of the round we had a front blow through and we struggled with our distance and ball flight," Head Coach Mark McEntire said. "We didn't do a very good job on the Par 5 holes today. We had it in position and just didn't execute. I am encouraged though by how we are driving the ball, we just need to keep getting more reps."
Sadlowski carded a 1-over par 73 in round one and matched it in the second round to land in a tie for 25th at the end of the day at 2-over par (73-73=146).
Marvelli matched Sadlowski in the opening round with a 1-over 73 of his own before carding a 4-over 76 in the afternoon to sit three strokes back of his classmate and tied for 40th at 5-over (73-76=159).
"I was happy with the play from Palmer and Jake today," McEntire added. "They made some nice progress from our season opener at The Grove."
The upperclassman duo of James Beckner and Tanner Owens will enter the final round not far behind their freshman teammates, currently 6-over (77-73=150) and 7-over (74-77=151), respectively.
The Blue Raiders will tee off in Tuesday's final round alongside Southeastern Louisiana and Southern Miss in an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start.
