Raiders enter as highest ranked team in field
LEXINGTON, Ky. – With a week and a half of rest since their last tournament, Middle Tennessee women's golf is back in action Friday when the team tees off at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational in Lexington, Ky.
The Blue Raiders, currently ranked No. 43 nationally in the Golfweek team rankings, look to continue their strong start to the 2018-19 season as the highest ranked team in a field that includes four teams ranked right behind MT in Notre Dame (No. 50), East Tennessee State (54), host Kentucky (57) and Penn State (58).
Also in the field at the Par 72, 5,947-yard University Club of Kentucky are Akron, Columbia, Eastern Kentucky, Indianapolis, Memphis, Toledo and WKU.
With redshirt senior Jenna Burris sidelined due to injury and the Blue Raiders holding an individual slot in Lexington, Blue Raider graduate transfer Kailey Collier and freshman Madison Smith are both seeing their first competitive action of the season.
Smith will tee of first for the Blue Raiders at 9:30 a.m. CT Friday, followed by Catherine Caudill, Caroline Caudill, Sophie Burks and Hanley Long. Collier is teeing off at 9:12 a.m. CT as an individual while all six Blue Raiders will begin on the first tee.
Middle Tennessee is paired with Toledo and Memphis on day one. Live scoring can be followed at Golfstat.com.
