Raiders Open Outdoor Season at Yellow Jacket Invitational

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Middle Tennessee men and women's track teams will travel to Atlanta, Georgia to compete at the Yellow Jacket Invitational this weekend hosted by Georgia Tech.
The invitational will start on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with field events at the George C. Griffin Track and Field Facility.
Issac Odugbesan will be the first member of the team to take the field, competing in the shot put and discus throw events. Likewise, Qetuwrah Abdullah-Muhammad will take the field, competing in the shot put and javelin. Similarly, Jasmeen Phillips will also compete in the javelin. Following the opening field events, Adbullah-Muhammad will compete in the long jump and high jump while Omolayo Omosola will participate in the long and triple jump. On the men's side, Jacob Patten and Troy Valdary will compete in the high and triple jump. Valdary will also participate in the long jump to wrap up the field events.
Francis, Mensah, Castor, Odiong will commence the running events in the 4x100-meter relay followed bt the men's leg of Adedamola, Petty, Stewart, Simmons.
Vincent Kibet will then take to the track to compete in the 1,500-meter run. Following the distance event, Abdullah-Muhammad will round off her day on the track, running in the 100-meter hurdles.
Abike Egbeniyi will make her first outdoor track appearance after running the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, competing in the 400-meter dash. Egebeniyi will run alongside Loveth Odia, Joycelyn Assafuah and Lauren Epps while Adeniji Adedamola, Jaquez Torian and Matthew Stewart will represent the men in the 400-meter event.
Following the 400-meter dash, Janet Amponsah, Cecilia Francis, Edidiong Odiong, Ida Mensah and Mirlege Castor will take the track to run in the 100-meter. After the women compete, Ifiok Umoh, Lamarco Petty, Chaz Simmons and Keon Hugle will represent the Blue Raider men in the 100-meter event.
Patience Akanwogba, Trevon Sanders, Nathan Mack, Julio Acevedo will then compete in the 800-meter run. After the 800-meter event Greg Cantrell and Epps will represent the squad in the 400-meter hurdles.
Geoffry Cheruiyot will round off the individual events of the day in the 2,000-meter steeplechase before the invitational is closed out with the 4x400-meter relay events.
