Cross Country Set for NCAA South Regional

MURFREESBORO. Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee cross country teams are headed to Tallahassee, Fla. this weekend for the NCAA South Regional hosted by Florida State. The Blue Raiders will run a full women's team of eight and a men's team of seven who will race against over 400 other male and female runners for a bid to the NCAA National Championships.

Course Details
The Apalachee Regional Park cross country course is predominantly surfaced by grass and crushed shell. It begins as wide as 150 meters at the starting line, and gets to be as narrow as 15 meters at the 1000m mark. The women's course consists of two 3000m loops, while the men's course is contested over four loops, an extra pair of 2000m circuits.

Season at a Glance
The Blue Raider men's team jumped two spots to No. 15, the highest in program history, in the week five USTFCCCA Coaches' Poll. They have only moved up since the start of the season when they were placed at No. 26 after week one. The Blue Raiders have finished first at all four meets they have participated in this season, including the Memphis Twilight Classic, Commodore Classic, the Greater Louisville Classic and the Arturo Barrios Invitational. Most recently, both the men's and women's teams claimed championship titles at the Conference USA Championships in Bowling Green, Ky.
Jacob Choge and Kigen Chemadi continue to rank nationally, with Choge remaining at No. 8 and Chemadi at No. 9 in the FloTrack Rankings. The Kenyan duo have placed Top-3 in every meet this season. Most recently, the Blue Raiders competed in C-USA Champiosnhips when Choge and Chemadi placed first and second overall, leading their team to a conference title.
The women's team has also shown extraordinary progress this season, placing third in Memphis, seventh at the Commodore Classic, claiming gold in Louisville, second in College Station and then taking the gold at the Conference USA Championships. Juniors Eusila Chepkemei and Joice Jebor finished second and fourth overall at the Arturo Barrios Invitational, and Chepkemei was also the C-USA women's individual champion.
The Opposition
There will be a total 29 scoring women's teams and 26 scoring men's teams competing in the regional this weekend, including eight SEC teams, five Conference USA teams, several ACC teams and more.
The men will again face No. 11 Ole Miss, who they finished faster than in the Commodore Classic earlier this season, and No. 28 Alabama. The women will also race against the Ole Miss women's team who is ranked 27th nationally.
The four other C-USA teams include FIU, FAU, Southern Miss and UAB. The Blue Raiders faced Southern Miss and UAB at the C-USA Championships where they finished first overall.
