Raiders wrap up June Stewart Invite

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Blue Raider Women's Tennis team wrapped up play at the June Stewart Invitational on Sunday at the Currey Tennis Center.
"The June Stewart Invitational is always a great event as we have the opportunity to compete against some of the top players in the nation," said head coach Tayo Bailey-Duvall. "This weekend we fought hard and competed well against some very talented players. Our freshman showed some growth picking up some well fought wins, while our upperclassmen had competitive performance showing their efforts to us strategy over power. We are looking forward to finishing our fall season at FSU this coming weekend."
Over the three-day tournament, two freshman played well as Love-Star Alexis and Muskan Gupta both went 2-1 on the weekend against quality opponents. Alexis had wins over Lipscomb's Bandy (7-6, 6-1) and Zakordoniec (6-3, 4-6, 6-2). Gupta earned wins over two Tennessee's Duckworth (6-3, 6-3) and Bonilla (6-1, 6-3).
Marta Peris Herrero and Lidia Burrows earned a win in doubles over host Vanderbilt's Cruz/Meyer (8-5).
LOOKING AHEAD
Blue Raiders finalize their fall season with a trip to Tallahassee, Fl. for FSU Showdown on November 8-10th.
