Men's Tennis Suffer Tough Loss in Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON, IN. – Middle Tennessee Men's Tennis drop a close match as they cannot complete the comeback falling to Indiana 4-3 Friday night at the IU Tennis Complex.
Middle Tennessee (2-3, 0-0 C-USA) opened Friday's match against Indiana (4-2, 0-0 Big Ten) battling for doubles point as Max Rauch / Francisco Rocha claimed the No. 3 win. The Hoosiers would take No. 2, which came down to Tom Moonen / Sijn Slump at No. 1, but the duo fell in tiebreaker (7-6 (7-3)) submitting doubles point.
In singles play, the excitement began when Sitjn Slump defeated Brandon Lam to tie up the score at 1-1. IU soon took back the lead with a win in the No. 6 singles putting them up 2-1. Pavel Motl fell behind 5-1 in the second frame but came back and forced tiebreaker before conceiting the match (6-1, 7-6 (7-2)).
MT down 3-1, the atmosphere started to grow intensity as the final three matches went into the third frame. In the battle of ranked, No. 96 Bennett Crane clinched the win for the Hoosiers against No. 119 Gonzalo Morell Raschiatore (6-7, 6-1, 6-4). Tom Moonen defeated No. 110 Zac Brodney (4-6, 6-4, 5-2) and Max Rauch earned the Blue Raiders their third point after taking down Carson Haskins (6-7, 6-3, 6-3).
