MURFREESBORO, TENN. – Middle Tennessee set out to turn things around Sunday in Murfreesboro, and they did just that, getting themselves a pair of wins against two former Ohio Valley Conference rivals. The Blue Raiders started off the morning with a 7-0 sweep of in-state foe UT-Martin and followed it up in the afternoon with a 5-2 win over Murray State.

Middle Tennessee's women's tennis team was in desperate need of redemption Sunday morning after coming into the Adams Tennis Complex wearing a five-match losing streak. The Blue Raiders not only found that redemption, but they did so in dominating fashion by sweeping the UT-Martin Skyhawks 7-0.
One of the biggest bright spots for Middle has been the duo of Zani Barnard and Costanza Magazzni. They continued their fiery play by improving to 4-0 on the year in doubles play by winning in straight sets over UT-Martin's Amelia Campbell and Jule Streif to start the morning off on a high note.
Right next to them on court one, Marta Peris Herrero and Lidia Burrows also took their doubles match in straight sets to give the Blue Raiders the doubles point. It was Peris-Herrero's and Burrows' first win of the season together as a duo.
MT kept things rolling right on into singles play. Senior Kim Kermet put together a commanding performance by surrendering just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 win over the Skyhawks' Daphne Pratt. It was the second singles win of the year for Kermet and the 30th singles win of her Middle Tennessee career.
Simultaneously, Luisa Zirilli and Marta Perris-Herrero each claimed a victory, putting the Blue Raiders up 4-0 and giving them the guaranteed win. Zirilli improved to 4-3 on the season while Perris-Herrero got herself back to .500 at 2-2.
Lee Barnard won 6-4, 6-3 to pick up her second singles win this spring. The sophomore now sits at 18-15 in her career in singles play.
Constanza Maggazinni fought back to win 6-1, 7-5 after finding herself down 5-3 in the second set. Teammate Lidia Burrows also had a comeback in her second set after being down 4-1, taking the match 6-2, 7-5 to complete the sweep.
MTSU 5, Murray State 2
Costanza Magazzini and Zani Barnard looked at each other in a bit of disgust. After winning in straight sets to begin the morning, they found themselves with their backs against the wall, down 4-1 to Murray State's Anja Loncarevic and Stasya Sharapova.
The next look they gave each other was one of tranquility and determination, knowing their 4-0 doubles record was on the line.
Magazzini and Barnard quickly turned the tables, taking six of the final seven games to give MT the doubles point with a 7-5 win. It was the duo's fifth win in a row in doubles play, making them 5-0 on the season.
Kim Kermet and Luisa Zirilli also made quick work of the Racers in a 6-3 win, the first that went final in the afternoon match.
Zirilli would ride that momentum into singles play, taking her match by a score of 6-1, 6-1, nabbing her fifth singles victory on the year. Magazzini secured the overall team victory by winning 6-2, 6-2 over Murray's Claire Chang, giving Middle Tennessee its fourth point of the day.
Lidia Burrows and Kermet each provided singles points, as well. The win marked the fourth singles victory of the year for Burrows, while it was the third win this year for Kermet.
