Blue Raider Men Win C-USA Title; Women Place Third

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Middle Tennessee's men captured their second Conference USA Indoor Track and Field title in three years on Sunday. Head Coach Dean Hayes was named the C-USA Men's Coach of the Year and Jacob Choge had the highest individual point total of many male athlete. The Blue Raiders finished with 143 points, 32 points more than second place Charlotte. The women finished in third place, just 13.5 points shy of first place UTEP.
Notable Results
The Blue Raiders swept the 400 meter races Torian and Assafuah taking the titles. Cecilia Francis and Willington Wright also turned in podium finishes.
Abike Egbeniyi added an 800 meter title to her already stellar career at Middle Tennessee. Tre'Von Sanders and Jacob Choge took runner-up in their respective events.
Kigen Chemadi and Jacob Chose went 1-2 in the men's 3K as Choge was honored as the highest male points scorer.
Both 4x400 relay teams won the title for the Blue Raiders. The men's team also ran a C-USA Championship meet record to stay undefeated this season.
Odugbesan won the shot put event, the one of the three individual titles won by MT.

- Head Coach Dean Hayes was named a Coach of the Year for the third straight season. He was the Women's Coach of the Year in 2018 and was the Men's Coach of the Year in 2017.
- Jacob Choge captured his 7th individual indoor title this weekend by winning the 5K.
- This is MT's third straight season with a championship winning indoor team.
