HUNTINGTON, W. Va. – Middle Tennessee (9-18, 4-5) couldn't get the offense going on a chilly afternoon in Huntington, dropping game three of the series to Marshall (17-10, 6-3) by a score of 7-0.
Zach Keenan got the start for the Blue Raiders and cruised through the first two innings before finding trouble in the third. The Herd tagged Keenan for three runs to give themselves an early lead. The Marshall offense would get two runs in each of the fifth and seventh innings to extend their lead to seven runs. David Zoz came in relief of Keenan, holding the Herd scoreless in two innings of work.
Four Herd pitchers combined to shut out the Blue Raiders. Ryan Falls had the most success, picking up the win and going five innings, allowing just one hit.
The Blue Raiders had their best inning at the plate in the first. Aaron Antonini and Blake Benefield had back-to-back two out singles to give the Blue Raider an early chance to score.
MT remains in the middle of the pack in the C-USA standings, heading into the fourth conference weekend with a 4-5 record.
