Calum MacGeoch Announced as Men's Tennis Assistant Coach

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee men's tennis program has added Calum MacGeoch as an assistant coach announced early August by head coach Jimmy Borendame.
"I greatly appreciate Coach Borendame for this amazing opportunity here at MTSU," MacGeoch. "I think MTSU is a great place to begin my coaching career and I'm very excited to learn all I can from Coach Borendame and build on the team's success from last season."
An Edinburgh, Scotland, native, MacGeoch just finished up his redshirt-senior year at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. In his four seasons with the Bulldogs, he finished with a 70-43 singles record and 40-31 in doubles record overall and claimed four conference championships under his belt.
In his most recent season, Calum MacGeoch finished his redshirt-senior season with a 19-13 singles record, mostly playing at the five spot in the Bulldog lineup going 6-8. He won nine of the last 14 matches leading up to the end of his final season with a title on his shelves.
MacGeoch redshirted his senior due to an injury. His junior year he received All-MVC honors and finished with a combined 19-20 singles/doubles dual-match record in the 2016-17 year. He reached the quarterfinal at the ITA Central Region Championship. He led the team in singles wins his sophomore campaign with 23 victories.
Calum graduated with a degree in International Business, Management earning the MVC academic honors in addition.
"Calum is going to be a tremendous asset for this program," head coach Jimmy Borendame said. "He is a hard worker and with his passion for the game, I'm confident he will be a strong leader for our players. Being a great player during his playing days at Drake shows his desire to win. There's no doubt his experience as both a player and coach will elevate our program and help us to build off the success from last season."
