Middle Tennessee Sets Eyes Toward Home Opener

Blue Raiders lead the series 4-2
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Women's Soccer will open the home schedule off on Sunday evening at 5 p.m. as the Blue Raiders take on the Austin Peay Governors.
Sunday's match will be streamed live on C-USA Digital (link) and live stats will be available (link).
LOOKING BACK
In a full team effort that saw 23 players in action in the Royal Blue and Black, the Blue Raiders opened the season on a high note as Middle Tennessee (1-0-0) posted a 5-1 victory over Evansville (0-1-0) on Thursday evening at McCutchan Stadium.
Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year Peyton DePriest shined on the offensive end for the Raiders, scoring the first two goals of the match. Juniors Carolin Engelhard and Elizabeth Watts followed up what DePriest was handing out. Lastly, C-USA
Freshman of the Year Hannah Tillett joined in on the action to cap off the scoring.
The Middle Tennessee defense did not allow a shot or a corner kick for the first 32 minutes of the match and out shot Evansville 21-3 and of those shots 17 were on goal for the Raider offense.
LOOKING AHEAD
Austin Peay had its season opener against Chattanooga where they finished with a scoreless match ending in 0-0.
APSU carry a two-game winning streak against the Blue Raiders into Sunday. Last season, the Govs took the season opener against Middle Tennessee 1-0 and in 2017 won in OT.
The Govs finished 8-8-1 in 2018 and will be facing the Blue Raiders; the Blue Raiders own an impressive 4-2 all-time record in the series and have outscored Austin Peay 14-4 across those six matches.
Claire Larose was Austin Peays goal score leader with seven knocks in 17 games played a season ago, Last year, Austin Peay struggled on the road as they went an disappointing 2-7 and was left scoreless in five of those matches.

Following Sunday's game, Middle Tennessee will hit the road to orth Carolina to face off against Western Carolina on Thursday (August 29) afternoon at 7 p.m. (CT). That matchup will be the fifth meeting between the Blue Raiders and the Catamounts since 2003. The Raiders lead the series 3-1.
