The Tale of Two Halves, Raiders Dominate Second Half
8/25/2019 8:06:00 PM | Women's Soccer
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee (2-0-0) looked impressive with a 4-0 win in their first official home match against Austin Peay (0-1-1). Junior forward Maddi Falter led the way with two goals, while Peyton DePriest and Hannah Tillett each had one of their own.
The first half seemed to be tightly contested throughout with both teams failing to find the back of the net. However, the Blue Raiders outshot the Governors 12-5 in the half and maintained most of the possession.
The second half was all Middle Tennessee. The Blue Raiders dominated possession time and continued to put pressure on the Austin Peay keeper. By the end of the match the shot total for Middle Tennessee would be 28, while Austin Peay would only have 8.
The first two goals of the game came within five minutes of each other in the beginning of the second half, one put away by Falter coming off a deflection and the other by Peyton DePriest who followed her penalty after the initial shot had been saved.
Maddi Falter would continue her fabulous night with another goal, this one coming off an assist from Hannah Tillett.
Hannah Tillett would score the final goal of the night putting a nail in Austin Peay's coffin.
Not only did the Blue Raiders offense show out, defensively they played very tough and physical. Senior goal keeper Sydney Chalcraft and the defensive line put up a great game by only allowing two shots on goal from the Austin Peay attackers.
