MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – After going 1-1 last week, the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders (3-1-0) look to rebound from the first loss of the season this week as they head on road to face Samford (1-1-2) on Thursday before returning home on Sunday to take on UT Martin (1-1-2).
Road match is at Samford Track and Soccer Stadium and is set for 7 p.m. kick while being broadcasted on ESPN3. Sunday's match will be back in Murfreesboro at Dean Hayes Stadium with kickoff at 2 p.m. and being live streamed on C-USA digital.
Looking Back: Raiders Finish 1-1
Middle Tennessee stayed perfect on the season by taking down Western Carolina 4-1 at Catamount Athletic Complex. The Blue Raiders iced the match late in the second half, knocking in three goals – all in the last 20 minutes.
Freshman Cambell Kivisto earned her first collegiate goal, knocking in a precision shot from 15 yards out scoring right under the cross bar with an assist from Casey Riemer. That would be the end to the scoring in the first half.
Peyton DePriest, yet again, continued her hot streak as she enjoyed herself another two goals in the 67th and 86th minute to put her up to five in the last three matches. Last season, DePriest missed seven games and still led Conference USA in goals scored with 11.
With the score 3-1, Hannah Tillett joined the scoring party in the last minute to keep her scoring streak alive as she has scored a goal in each of the first three games.
At the end of the week, Middle Tennessee suffered its first loss of the season on Sunday night falling 1-0 to their rival Western Kentucky. The lone goal of the match came in the 32' minute after Junior forward Ashley Leonard put away a ball in the left upper corner coming off an assist from Ansley Cate.
It wasn't because of a lack of opportunity that the Blue Raiders were shut out, seeing that they out shot the Lady Toppers 19-10. Senior Amber Hoot led Middle Tennessee with five shots in total, followed by Carolin Engelhard and Hannah Tillett who each registered three shots.
