Round 2 Results
JONESBORO, Ark. – Middle Tennessee Women's Golf didn't have its best on day one at the Lady Red Wolves Classic, but battled thru 36 holes to find themselves inside the top half of the field with a chance to move up the leaderboard during Tuesday's final round.
The Blue Raiders, tied for seventh in the 15-team field, shot an 11-over par 299 in round one before nearly matching that with a 12-over par 300 in round two.
"I really thought everyone played hard out there today," Head Coach Chris Adams said. "It got pretty windy early in the second round, but we battled through it fairly well and left ourselves in position to move up the leaderboard if we can come out strong tomorrow."
Caroline Caudill had a solid round to start the day, posting a team low 1-over par 73 in round one before struggling in round two.
Sophie Burks posted the round of the day for MT as an eagle on her final hole in round two put her at 3-under for the round and 2-over for the tournament, just inside the Top 10.
Catherine Caudill went low in round two as well, as a 1-under 71 left her three strokes back of Burks and tied for 24th in the field of 85.
"Sophie finished really strong with a birdie and an eagle on her last two holes and we had some late birdies from a few others as well to keep us in striking distance," Adams added. "Catherine had a great round under par this afternoon as well despite having to play through some windy conditions."
Molly Bebelaar is tied with the elder Caudill at 10-over par thru 36 holes while Madison Smith is one stroke back of the pair at 11-over par despite a solid round of 2-over par 74 in the morning.
Taylor Edlin, competing as an individual, is tied for 35th after rounds of 2-over par 74 and 5-over par 77.
The Blue Raiders are back at it on Tuesday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Live scoring can be followed at Golfstat.com.
