Three Raiders post rounds of par or better
Final Results
JONESBORO, Ark. – Blue Raider Women's Golf logged the best round of the day to move up the leaderboard at the Lady Red Wolves Classic Tuesday, finishing the event tied for sixth at 23-over par.
The even par round of 288, the second best round of the week in the field of 15 teams, was a welcome sight for Head Coach Chris Adams after a long 36-hole day on Monday.
"I'm really proud of the way everyone played today, and even though we gave a couple back late in the round we were able to put together the lowest round of the day," Adams stated. "I think that really shows and proves what this team is capable of when we're at our best."
Seniors Sophie Burks and Caroline Caudill turned in matching rounds of 1-under par 71 on Tuesday, with Burks finishing the event at 1-over par and tied for ninth.
Junior Catherine Caudill was right behind the senior duo with an even par 72, and earned a share of 17th place at 5-over par to finish just ahead of sister, Caroline, who tied for 26th.
Sophomore Taylor Edlin, competing as an individual, matched the elder Caudill on the week with a share of 26th place at 9-over par after a 2-over 74 in the final round.
Junior Madison Smith logged her second round of 2-over par 74 of the week and finished in a tie for 45th, while sophomore Molly Bebelaar tied for 59th place on the week.
The Blue Raiders led the field in Par 5 scoring on the week, going 17-under par for an average score of 4.72, and were one of only two teams with multiple eagles.
Burks boasted both eagles for MT with both coming on the Par 5 1st hole and led the field of 85 golfers in Par 5 scoring at 7-under par (4.42). She was one of only two golfers this week with two eagles.
"We still had just a few too many big numbers, but we were able to make a lot of birdies this week and seeing Sophie get another eagle today was really exciting," Adams exclaimed.
Middle Tennessee has one more event in the fall, teeing off next Monday in the Callaway Gardens Invite in Pine Mountain, Ga.
