Third Raider in program history
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – For the third time in program history, a student-athlete from the Middle Tennessee men's tennis team has been named the Conference USA Athlete of the Month.
This time it was Tom Moonen claiming the honor for the month of October.
Moonen went an impressive 8-1 in singles and 6-2 in doubles over three hidden-dual tournaments. With his combined 14 wins, Moonen inched his way further up the record book at No. 8 all-time in combined wins. He now has 156 total wins in his prestigious career.
Moonen had an unblemished record at the Southern Miss Invitational, going 3-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles. Two of his three singles wins were in straight sets against opponents from Chattanooga and South Alabama.
At the Buck Bouldin Battle of the Boro hosted by the Blue Raiders, Moonen garnered a 4-2 record overall, 2-1 in singles and doubles. In the first tournament of the season, Moonen claimed three singles and two doubles wins.
This is the first time Moonen has earned the Conference USA Athlete of the Month honors. The last Blue Raider to earn this honor was Miguel Fernandez in November of 2017.
