BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Blue Raiders drop back-to-back matches to No. 20 Western Kentucky before heading into their bye week.
Over the weekend Middle Tennessee had moments that showed they had the talent to take the Hilltoppers to four or five sets but were not able to capitalize on the opportunities. Western Kentucky's blockers racked up 20 blocks on the day compared to the Blue Raider's four.
Middle Tennessee at WKU Set-by-Set
Set one started with errors on both sides of the match. Samira Lawson Body was on fire to start the match with five kills on seven attempts. The Blue Raiders dropped the set at the end after a few late turnovers saw them lose 19-25.
Middle Tennessee was fighting hard in set two. Melisa Tore had two of her three service aces on the day in this set which lit a fire under the Blue Raiders. Lawson Body had four kills in a five-point span that forced the Hilltoppers to burn a timeout at WKU 19 – MT 18. The Blue Raiders had a chance to take the set but dropped it 22-25.
The final set of the match started back and forth until the Hilltoppers amounted three aces in a row. The defense that stepped up in set two for the Blue Raiders, wasn't as intense as it was before. The Hilltoppers had too many 3-0 or more runs to come back in the end. Western Kentucky took set three 25-14.
