SAN DIEGO, Calif. – No. 21-ranked Pavel Motl and Stijn Slump closed out competition in the 2021 ITA National Fall Championships on Saturday, falling in the consolation quarterfinals to the No. 11 nationally-ranked doubles team at Barnes Tennis Center.
Motl and Slump opened the ITA National Fall Championships in a tough two-set battle against Stanford's Sah and Basing, 1-6, 2-6, moving into the consolation bracket. The duo then earned a commanding straight-set win against Caratini and Tamagnone of Georgia Gwinnett, 6-3, 6-3, to advance to the consolation quarterfinals. On day three, Motl and Slump matched up against Miami's No. 11-ranked Aubone and Hannestad, 2-6, 4-6.
Middle Tennessee men's tennis will close out the season tomorrow with their third and final day at the Clemson Hidden Duals.
HEAD COACH JIMMY BORENDAME
"Miami was better today. On some big points, we didn't execute a few things and we will fix them. I am already counting the days to the spring season. We will be ready by then."
