EATONTON, Ga. – Middle Tennessee closed out the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational with a round of 20-over par 308 on Sunday, holding its place on the final day to finish the weekend in ninth place.
The Blue Raiders' three-day total of 63-over par comes up just shy of Big Ten member Wisconsin (+61), who finished just two strokes ahead of MT in the 15-team field at eighth place.
Senior Caroline Caudill was one of two Raiders to land just inside the Top 15 in the 88-player field, claiming 14th place at 10-over par (74-77-75=226) after a 3-over par 75 on Sunday.
Sophomore Taylor Edlin was hot on Caudill's heels all week, using her second round of 2-over par 74 on Sunday to finish tied for 15th at 11-over par (74-79-74=227).
Outside of their top two, MT struggled throughout the 54-hole event with Molly Bebelaar (82-76-80=238) tying for 49th while Sophie Burks (77-83-81=241) and Catherine Caudill (80-82-79=241) each claimed a share of 60th place.
Freshman Lauren Gilchrist, making her collegiate debut as an individual, finished the week at 40-over par (83-85-88=256).
"We definitely had a bit of a tough week and our fair share of struggles, but I'm really proud of Caroline and Taylor for battling all weekend," Head Coach Chris Adams said. "In a talented field on a challenging course and having some tough conditions at times this week, finishing in the Top 15 is a really solid week for them both.
"With the winter weather letting up, we now hope to get in a lot more work before our next tournament so that we can continue getting better throughout the spring."
The Blue Raiders now look to regroup over the next three weeks before heading to the UAB Spring Invitational (Mar. 15-16) hosted by the Conference USA rival Blazers at Greystone Country Club.
