Slump Named C-USA Player of the Week

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – After picking up two wins at 31st-ranked Alabama, junior Stijn Slump has been named Conference USA Player of the Week.
The Netherlands native helped give the Raiders the doubles point against the Crimson Tide by pairing up with Pavl Motl at #1 doubles to win 7-5.
In singles play, he gave MTSU another point with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Gabriel Diaz Freire at #3 singles. With the win, Slump has now won seven straight singles matches, dropping just two sets in the process. The last five wins have all come against power five opponents.
Overall this season, Slump leads the Blue Raiders with 11 wins against just three losses in singles action and has added seven wins in doubles. In addition to player of the week honors, Slump also jumped into the ITA Top-125 singles rankings this week as he sits at #111.
This is the fourth time this season, a Blue Raiders has been named player of the week as Francisco Rocha has two to his name whil Motl collected one of his own.
Slump and the rest of his MTSU teammates will be back in action this weekend when they host DePaul on Friday at 1 p.m. and South Florida, Sunday at noon at the Adams Tennis Complex
