Blue Raiders Shine at War Eagle Invitational

AUBURN, Ala. – The Middle Tennessee track and field team concluded competition at the War Eagle Invitational on Saturday, earning 10 podium finishes and three event titles overall.
Jumps
Akera Benton used a jump of 5.61m to earn an eighth-place finish in the women's long jump.
Esther Isa used a personal best 1.85m to claim the women's high jump title. Erhire Omamuyovwi placed fourth in the men's high jump with a 2.15m mark, while Kyle Teague finished 12th with a leap of 1.90m.
Akera Benton finished sixth in the women's triple jump with a 11.95m mark.
Throws
Regina Yeboah threw a personal best 25.41m to finish 20th in the women's javelin throw.
In the women's shot-put, Regina Yeboah finished 25th with a throw of 9.77m.
Sprints
Courtland Jordan finished 30th in the men's 100m with a time of 11.49.
Amarachukwu Obi set a new personal best in the women's 200m, clocking in at 23.02 to take the sliver. Agnes Abrocquah finished 19th with a time of 24.70. On the men's side, Jaquez Torian led the way with a 21.41 to finish ninth. Nickson Pierre (21.93), Darian Jones (21.94), and Michael Fuqua (22.01) finished 19th, 20th, and 22nd, respectively. Matthew Stewart (22.24) and Courtland Jordan (23.24) would round out the order with 28th and 38th place finishes.
Amarachukwu Obi clocked a 54.38 to take the silver in the women's 400m. Glory Nyenke ran a 55.22 to finish fourth, while Dorcas Gyimah finished 17th with 59.69. On the men's side, Jaquez Torian captured the bronze with a 46.98 mark. Matthew Stewart (48.63), Nickson Pierre (48.65), and Darian Jones (48.78) finished ninth, tenth, and eleventh, respectively. Michael Fuqua would round out the order with a time of 49.56 to finish 16th.
Middle Distance
Patience Akanwogba's 2:12.22 mark in the women's 800m earned her a 10th place finish. Francisca Jebor placed 13th with a 2:13.21 while Quanisha Marshall finished 19th with a time of 2:19.60.
Eusila Chepkemei captured the title and set a new personal best in the women's 1500m, finishing with a 4:18.96. Brian Rono's personal best 3:47.48 in the men's 1500m earned him a second-place finish. Stephen Mengich used a 3:53.45 to finish ninth while Isaiah Strauel finished 14th with a time of 3:57.06.
Long Distance
In the women's 5000m, Faith Rono clocked 16:45.74 to earn the silver while Mercy Chepkurui notched a new personal best 16:47.64 to grab the bronze. The Blue Raiders dominated the men's 5000m as Lebo Mosito (14:00.66) captured the gold and Kigen Chemadi (14:01.29) took the silver!
