Jump squad heads to Indoor Music City Challenge

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee Track & Field team is headed to Nashville for the Indoor Music City Challenge hosted by Vanderbilt. The meet will be hosted at the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility on Friday, Feb. 13 and Saturday, Feb. 14.
Last Time Out
The Blue Raiders hosted the Dean Hayes Classic last Saturday, where Middle Tennessee had 33 podium finishes and set five new personal bests.
27 different Blue Raiders found themselves on the podium at the invitational; for the women, Laura Odivwri placed third in both the long jump and triple jump, Viktoria Rusnakova placed second in the long jump and first in the triple jump, Xarya Udoumana placed first in the long jump, Arianna Thomas placed second in the triple jump, Lauren Cole and Eleanor Towe placed third and first in the mile respectively, Privillege Chikara, Mariah Ivery and Zenade October finished first, second and third in the 400m, Tamia Waters and Ella Miller placed first and second in the 55m hurdles, Laila Rudolph finished first in the 55m and third in the 200m, Faith Nyathi, Odilia Jepchumba and Laila Williams finished first, second and third in the 800m, Chidinma Agu and Courtney Green finished first and second in the 200m, and the women's 4x400 squad took a first place finish to cap off the women's events.
For the men, Devaun Butler finished third in the long jump, Devin Walker finished first in the high jump, Moses Lekokei and Gabe Allen placed first and second in the mile, Wail Bourahliand James Thomas Jr. finished second and third in the 400m, Evan Tomlinson finished first in the 55m and 200m, Jonathan Harris placed second in the 55m, Allan Kiplagat and Solomon Sayo finished second and third in the 3000m, and the men's 4x400 ended the day with a first place finish.
What to Watch For
Only the jumpers are headed to Vanderbilt to compete in the Indoor Music City Challenge.
Joel Iheakolam did not compete at the Dean Hayes Classic but last took a second-place finish in the triple jump at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational. Iheakolam has finished on the podium in every meet this indoor season, and his triple jump mark is currently fourth in Conference USA.
Xarya Udoumana just took a first-place finish at the Dean Hayes Classic in the long jump. Udoumana set a season best in the event at the Vanderbilt Invitational. That mark sits fifth in CUSA.
Viktoria Rusnakova finished first in the triple jump and second in the long jump last Saturday. Ruskanova's season best mark in the long jump was recorded at the Commodore Winter Challenge to open the indoor season and is seventh in the conference. Her season best mark in the triple jump was her first-place finish in the Dean Hayes Classic and is fifth in Conference USA.
Laura Odivwri took two third-place finishes in both the long jump and triple jump this past weekend. Odivwri's season best mark in the long jump came at the Vanderbilt Invitational, putting her at the sixth best mark in CUSA.
Arianna Thomas finished second at the Dean Hayes Classic in the triple jump, that mark placing her fifth best amongst freshmen in Conference USA.

Blue Raider fans can keep track of the action at the Indoor Music City Challenge through the live results link or by watching on SEC+. The meet is slated to begin at 10:00 a.m. CT on Friday with the men's and women's high jump. The events will conclude on Saturday with the men and women's 4x400 relay.
