Raiders roll into Florida Atlantic series

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee showed its home field advantage over the last two weekends with a pair of 3-1 series wins over Conference USA's preseason No. 1 and 2 teams in the east division, but the Blue Raiders will need to show some moxie on the road when they visit Florida Atlantic for a four-game set this weekend.

About the Blue Raiders
» Corrina Dodd was named C-USA and TSWA Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season following a 2-0 record and 0.91 ERA in the 3-1 series win over Western Kentucky.
» The 1-2 punch of Summer Burgess (.338 avg, 11 doubles) and Kelci Hill (.377 avg, 47 hits) leads the Blue Raiders at the top of the order.
» MT leads C-USA as a team in hits (290), sacrifice bunts (36), stolen bases (58), and fielding percentage (.968).
» All four games of the WKU series were one-run affairs, bringing MT's record this season in one-run games to 10-3.
» Early innings are crucial for the Blue Raiders, who are 13-4 when scoring first and 2-10 when the opponent scores in the first inning.

» FAU was picked in the preseason to finish fifth in the east division, one slot behind the Blue Raiders. No Owls were picked to the preseason team, and no Owls have garnered C-USA Hitter or Pitcher of the Week awards so far this season.
» Freshman outfielder Kaitlyn Cunningham leads the Owls with a .296 batting average, and graduate catcher Kaitlyn Burke also makes a difference at the plate for her team with five home runs and a .291 average.
» Junior Lynn Gardner (4.10 ERA) is the go-to pitcher for FAU, while senior Kara Lokeinsky leads in ERA with a mark of 3.79.
» Junior infielder Maya Amm made the switch to the No. 4 spot in the lineup and is hitting .310 over her last 10 games. Amm also moved full-time to second base, where she has a fielding percentage of .958 in the last 10 contests.
