TULSA, Okla. — Oskar Brostrom Poulsen and Francisco Rocha tallied a doubles win on Tuesday to advance to the doubles main draw at the ITA All-American Championships.
The duo of Brostrom Poulsen and Rocha picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win over Ohio State's JJ Tracy and Cannon Kingsley.
Rocha started the day off with a 6-3, 6-4 singles victory over Florida's William Grant. In his second singles match of the day, he fell short.
Brostrom Poulsen won his consolation singles match against No. 99 Aditya Vashistha of Notre Dame 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.
ASSISTANT COACH ANDREA CALIGIANA
"We had a great day today in Tulsa. Francisco and Oskar are playing their best doubles, and they had a really good win against two of the best players of Ohio State, a team consistently top five in the nation. Oskar had his first singles win against a ranked opponent. I am super happy for him. Francisco's win in the morning was really good. Unfortunately, in the afternoon, he didn't play his best tennis. Francisco faced a tough opponent from Texas, and things didn't go our way. He did a really good job bouncing back in doubles. The boys are doing all the right things staying professional, which is crucial in a tournament like this. Our goal is to be here until Sunday and come back with the biggest trophy."
