Blue Raiders Take Down Auburn

The Blue Raider bats came alive in their 10-8 victory over Auburn Friday night for the team's fifth win of the season and second against a Power Five program.
MT came to play from the start, scoring four runs off four hits in the first inning.
Jared Vetetoe opened the scoring with an RBI groundout. Moments later, Brett Coker came home on a wild pitch to put MT ahead 2-0. Vetetoe now has a hit in five of his six games played in a Blue Raider uniform.
The Blue Raiders weren't done yet. Later in the inning, Mason Speirs hit an RBI double down the right field line. Speirs then scored on a Nathan Sanders RBI single to cap off the scoring int the first.
Auburn followed with three runs in the bottom half of the inning but MT scored four more in the second. Wyatt Morgan's sac fly and Brycen Thomas's bases-clearing double stretched the Blue Raider lead to 8-3.
MT was held scoreless over the next four innings until Nathan Sanders connected on a two-run shot in the fifth to make it a 10-5 game.
Trent Seibert kept the Blue Raiders in front on the mound. After taking over in the fifth, Seibert pitched four scoreless innings in relief with three strikeouts and two hits allowed. Seibert, the left-handed pitcher from Fuquay-Varina, N.C., keeps his scoreless streak alive with now 12.1 innings with no runs allowed in his last three outings. In that span, he has 11 strikeouts and six hits allowed.
Auburn made one last push in the ninth by scoring three runs but the Blue Raiders held on to secure the win.
Nathan Sanders finished 3-for-4 with three RBI. Thomas set a new career high in RBI with three in his two-hit night. Speirs collected his third multi-hit game of the season after going 2-for-5 with an RBI.
