Lady Raiders Ready for First Round Battle With Wofford

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee Lady Raiders get to open up their WNIT play at home with a first-round matchup against the Wofford Terriers, Thursday, March 17, at 8:00 p.m. CT.
Middle Tennessee (14-4, 23-8) dropped their last game of the C-USA Tournament to the Lady Techsters on March 11. The Lady Raiders are heading into the WNIT with one of the top records and are joined in the tournament by fellow C-USA members Louisiana Tech, North Texas, and Old Dominion.
Last Time Out – March 11 vs. LA Tech – (L, 72-80) RECAP
Middle Tennessee led a majority of the game with the Lady Techsters but saw a fourth quarter collapse that allowed Tech to take the win. LA Tech scored 34 points in the final 10 minutes after starting the quarter down 11.
"They had a great second half," head coach Rick Insell said of LA Tech. "They did a good job, their little guard just whipped us all over the floor and made some big-time baskets. That's the bottom line."
Dor Saar led the Lady Raiders with 20 points, making her first four shots from the field, all 3-pointers, en route to finishing the night 6-for-8 beyond the arc. The Isreali international also dished out four assists. Courtney Whitson was also hot from long range, scoring 15 of her 17 points from beyond the three-point line.
Kseniya Malashka added 15 points off the bench for Middle Tennessee, hauling in five rebounds. Alexis Whittington scored three points and led MT with six rebounds and four assists.
Lady Raider Notes
The Terriers lost their semifinal matchup with the Furman Paladins in the SoCon Tournament on March 4. This will be the first time the Lady Raiders and Terriers have matched up for women's basketball.
The Terriers rank top 40 in the nation in fewest fouls (403), personal fouls per game (13.4), three-point field goal defense (27.4%), three-point field goals made/attempted (240/751), and three-point field goals per game (8.0).
Scoring wise, the Terriers are led by Jackie Carman who averages 12.4 points per game on a .390 clip. Wofford has four other players that average above 8.0 points per game.
Senior Alexis Tomlin stands out on the stat sheet offensively and defensively. Tomlin is a 6-1 forward that averages 1.0 blocks and 7.4 rebounds per game and offensively shoots a .434 clip.
Defensively, Reagan Rapert and Annabelle Schultz both average at least 1.0 steals per game.
