Campbell leads Blue Raiders in first round of Mason Rudolph Championship

FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Competing against a strong field and a stiff breeze, Middle Tennessee women's golf finished the first round of the Mason Rudolph Championship in 13th on Friday. Lanie Campbell led the way for the Blue Raiders, finishing just outside the top 20 with a score of 73 (+1) at Vanderbilt Legends Club.
Despite being 12-over through nine holes, MTSU played strong to close the round, as four of the five Blue Raiders were within one stroke of par in the second half of the round.
Campbell carded four birdies Friday, including two on her final three holes of the round. The freshman ended the round tied for 23rd, one stroke behind a tie for 16th.
Taylor Edlin heads into the second round tied for 39th at 75 (+3). She finished the round strong as well, birdieing two of the final five holes she played.
Molly Bebelaar and Abbie Lee are tied for 57th at 77 (+5). Catherine Caudill rounds out the lineup at 80 (+8). Caudill rebounded from an 8-over performance on the first nine holes of the day to play even-par golf over her final nine.

"We had a bit of a slow start this morning, but thankfully had a 10-shot improvement on our back nine. We have a couple more days to keep improving, and I am proud of the way they gutted it out all the way to the end. Lanie had a really solid round today with four birdies."

- Arizona, one of just three teams to finish the first round under par, leads the field at 282 (-6).
- Three players are tied for the individual lead at 68 (-4).
- MTSU will start the second round on hole 10 Saturday with tee times starting at 9:45.
