CONCORD, N.C. - Middle Tennessee women's golf finished the first day of the Charlotte Invitational in seventh place Monday with a score of 618 (+42). Ella Manley's second-round 71 (-1) was the Blue Raiders' low round of the day, as she and Nicole Johnson ended play tied for 10th individually at 149 (+5).
Manley started the second round with a double bogey on the 10th hole before bogeying the 16th. Back-to-back birdies on 17 and 18 got her back on track, and she went 2-under on the front nine to finish under par for the round.
Johnson was MTSU's most consistent player on the first day of the tournament, carding rounds of 74 (+2) and 75 (+3). After ending the first round tied for third, she went 2-under on the front nine in the second round before five bogeys brought her back to 11th on the back nine.
Lauren Gilchrist enters the third round tied for 22nd at 155 (+11). Abbie Lee is tied for 28th with a score of 156 (+12). Lanie Campbell is tied for 36th overall at 159 (+15). Kendall Maynard is tied for 42nd at 161 (+17).
