TULSA, Okla. — The Middle Tennessee men's tennis team began doubles play and the singles qualifying draw in day three of the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla.
Leo Raquin competed in the first round of the singles qualifying draw. Rauqin battled with No. 123 Lui Maxted of TCU but fell short in both sets 6-4, 6-4. The Besancon, France native will have a consolation match on Tuesday, October 3.
Ondrej Horak and Marcel Kamrowski faced Jay Friend and Nick Lagaev of Arizona. The duo of Horak and Kamrowski won the first set and battled in the third set tiebreak but fell short. Javier Cueto Ramos and Leo Raquin dropped their doubles match against Oklahoma's Baptiste Anselmo and Nathan Han.
ASSOCIATE HEAD COACH ANDREA CALIGIANA
"Today wasn't our day. Leo fought very hard against one of the best players in the nation and had his chances to win the second set. We're never happy when losing but it was good to see him playing at this level. In doubles, Ondrej and Marcel started very well, but they couldn't close it out. Leo and Javier were winning both sets before losing. We need to get better at maintaining leads and closing out. We can't to get back to work."
