Lady Raiders travel to SIUE for first road test

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Middle Tennessee travels to Edwardsville, Illinois to take on the SIUE Cougar on Sunday afternoon in First Community Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT. The game will air on the Blue Raider Network and broadcast on ESPN+.

» Middle Tennessee became just the 25th school in NCAA Division I women's basketball history and the third in Conference USA to reach 1,000 program wins on Thursday, Nov. 9 when the Lady Raiders defeated the Florida A&M Rattlers 93-48.
» Savannah Wheeler ranks fourth in the nation in in career free throws made (533) and seventh in career free throw attempts (629).
» The Lady Raiders lead CUSA in Blocks per game (5.8), Free Throw Percentage (.763), Opponent Field Goal Percentage (.349) and Attendance (4,173). Individually, Boldyreva leads the league in Blocks (20) and Field Goals Percentage (.506), while Gregory leads CUSA in Free Throw Percentage (.900) and Whitson leads CUSA in 3-Point Field Goals per game (2.8)
» Junior center Anastasiia Boldyreva was named the Conference USA Player of the Week after averaged 18.5 points in their first two games at the Battle 4 Atlantis. She currently ranks fourth in the nation in and leads CUSA blocks with 20.
» This marks the fourth of an eight-game road/neutral site stretch for the Lady Raiders. Over 35 days, Middle Tennessee will play eight games in four states (Alabama, Illinois, Tennessee and Texas) and two countries (Bahamas and United States).
» The 2023-24 roster boasts seven international players: Jada Grannum (Canada); Dora Van Rijs (Hungary); Anastasiia Boldyreva, Iullia Grabovskaia and Stanislava Kabernick (Russia); Sifa Ineza (Rwanda); Zahira Arizmendi (Spain). Entering this season the Lady Raiders have only had 10 international players in program history.
» Head Coach Rick Insell has led the Lady Raiders to 17 consecutive post-seasons. He has tallied a 437-153 record at his alma mater.
Scouting the Cougars
» The 2023-24 season marks the 50th season of women's basketball at SIUE. The Cougars own an all-time record of 685-642 since the program began in 1974.
» SIUE women's basketball KK Rodriguez (St. Louis, Missouri) has earned Prairie Farms Cougar of the Week honors after averaging 17.3 points across three games last week.
» SIUE ranks second in the OVC averaging 8.0 three-pointers made per game. Rodriguez (11, 1st), Lowis (9, t-3rd), and Macy Silvey (9, t-3rd) rank in the top three of the league in three's made. The Cougars rank third in scoring offense at 74.6 points per game.
» SIUE returns five student-athletes to the 2023- 24 roster: Olivia Clayton, Lowis, Rodriguez, Molly Sheehan, and Silvey. All five played a wealth of minutes and cracked the starting lineup at least 17 times.
» The preseason Ohio Valley Conference poll predicted a seventh-place finish for the Cougars. Tennessee Tech was selected as regular season champions with 16-first place votes.
