MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Ondrej Horak has been named Conference USA Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.
"Ondrej has made some great improvements in his game in a short amount of time," said MTSU head coach Jimmy Borendame. "I am excited to see what he will do moving forward."
Horak has had himself an impressive start to the spring season with a 4-0 record in singles. All four wins coming against Power-5 schools.
Over the weekend, Horak impressed at the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Winston-Salem, N.C.
The freshman from Opava, Czech Republic went 2-0 against No. 19 Duke. Ondrej and his doubles partner, Marcel Kamrowski, defeated Faris Khan and Niroop Vallabhaneni 6-4. The doubles win clinched the doubles point for the Blue Raiders. In singles, Ondrej continued his winning ways against Duke's Connor Krug 6-4, 6-4.
The next day, MTSU faced their second ranked opponent in as many days. This time against No. 10 Wake Forest. Horak picked up a 6-3, 7-5 victory against Jurabek Karimov, who has a career-high ATP singles ranking of No. 426.
