Blue Raiders win the day, finish tied for fifth in Hawaii

'Ewa Beach, Hawaii - Middle Tennessee women's golf recorded the best score of the day in the third round of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational at Hokalei Country Club on Tuesday. The Blue Raiders finished the round at 286 (-2), one of just two teams under par on the final day, to finish the event tied for fifth at 916 (+42). Three Blue Raiders finished the tournament in the top 30, and five of the six players recorded their best round of the tournament Tuesday.
Taylor Edlin led MTSU with a three-round score of 224 (+8), tying for 10th individually. She recorded three birdies Tuesday on her way to a 73 (+1).
Abbie Lee was Middle Tennessee's lowest scorer in the third round, tying her personal best with a 70 (-2), nine strokes better than her second-round score. That effort propelled her 14 spots up the leaderboard, finishing in a tie for 34th.
Catherine Caudill tied for 17th at 226 (+10). She carded a 76 (+4) in the third round, earning her highest finish in a tournament this season.
Molly Bebelaar carded a 71 (-1) Tuesday, shaving 13 strokes off her first-round score. Bebelaar's five birdies were the most by a Blue Raider in the third round. She finished the tournament in a tie for 27th at 229 (+13).
Lanie Campbell shot a 72 (E) for her best score of the event Tuesday, 13 strokes better than her previous round and 14 better than her first-round performance. The freshman finished the tournament in a tie for 53rd place at 242 (+26).
Playing as an individual, Lauren Gilchrist finished 46th with a score of 235 (+19).
Coach's Comments: Chris Adams
"After some bad decision making yesterday, we played a lot smarter today in better conditions. I'm proud of all of them for stepping up today and having the low team round. We won the day, and that is all we could do today, and we moved up the leaderboard. Great to have some momentum heading to Vegas."
