Middle Tennessee Travels to WKU to Open Conference USA Play

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Middle Tennessee Soccer will open its Conference USA schedule Thursday night at the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.
The Blue Raiders (3-4-1) look to bounce back from a pair of recent defeats, with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m. in Bowling Green. ESPN+ will carry the fixture.
Notes and Storylines
» In its last match against Vanderbilt on Sunday night, the Blue Raiders and Commodores played the first college match at Nashville Soccer Club's GEODIS Park.
» Sophomore M Manon Lebargy scored goals in three consecutive matches for the Blue Raiders from Aug. 31 - Sept. 7. The Lille, France native had a first half brace against Lipscomb on Aug. 31, before giving Middle Tennessee an insurance goal in the 80' against Cleveland State Sept. 3. And on Sept. 7 vs. Chattanooga, Lebargy headed in a corner kick in the 56.'
Lebargy was the first MTSU player to score in at least three consecutive matches since 2021, when Peyton DePriest had goals in four straight fixtures (Sept. 5-16).
» The Blue Raiders open Conference USA play Thursday night in Bowling Green. MTSU is 2-1-1 in its most recent CUSA-opening matches dating back to 2018 (excluding 2020-21).
» The Blue Raiders face its rival to the north Thursday night, and will look to improve upon a 1-1 result the teams played to in Murfreesboro one year ago. Emma Pettersen scored under two minutes out of halftime, and Hannah Suder collected a season-high seven saves in goal. MTSU is seeking its first win over the Hilltoppers since 2017.
» Moving into league action, seven Blue Raiders have appeared on the scoresheet in non-conference play. This includes Lebargy with a team-high four goals, Cambell Kivisto (two goals), Kvaale, Adje, Pettersen and Slavinsky.
» G Hannah Suder and D Caroline Manley seek spots on all-time program career record lists in 2023.
Suder currently stands in the top 10 of numerous program goalkeeping records, including being tied for fifth in career saves (189), fourth in games started (52), fourth in games played (57) and fourth in minutes played (4,790:32).
Manley meanwhile has started in all 69 Blue Raider matches across her career. She currently stands at 5,036 consecutive minutes across 57 matches dating back to late in her freshman year. With 6,312 total minutes under her belt, she moved to No. 6 all-time in career minutes played in program history among outfield players, and is the 12th Blue Raider to enter the 6,000 minute club.
Behind Enemy Lines
» The Hilltoppers enter Thursday's conference opener with a 1-2-5 record. Prior to a loss at Purdue last Sunday, WKU had three consecutive scoreless draws.
» Graduate student Katie Erwin and junior Kayla Meyer lead the Hilltoppers with two goals and one assist each. Meyer scored in the 10th minute at Purdue, before the Boilermakers answered for two second half goals.
» Head coach Jason Neidell is in his 23rd season with WKU, and is the program's only coach in its history.

The Blue Raiders are next in action Sunday at Tennessee Tech. Kickoff for that match is set for 5:00 p.m. in Cookeville, Tenn.
MTSU returns home Sept. 21 to play Liberty.
