MURFREESBORO, Tenn.— A day after being no-hit in a run-rule shortened game, Liberty baseball turned the tables on in a 25-9 win in seven innings over Middle Tennessee on Sunday. Briggs Rutter hit two home runs for the second time in the series as the Flames (10-13, 2-1) took the rubber game at Reese Smith Jr. Field.

The Blue Raiders (10-12, 2-4 Conference USA) allowed 11 runs on 12 hits in the first inning. The Flames ended up with eight homers in the game.

Luke Vinson drove in MTSU's first run of the day with a second-inning triple. Rutter blasted a two-run homer in the third and a solo shot in the fifth. Nathan Brewer's pinch-hit homer sparked a five-run rally in the seventh, but the Blue Raiders came up seven runs shy of staving off the mercy rule.

Trace Phillips (0-1) took the loss in his fourth start of the season, allowing eight runs on eight hits in 0.1 innings, striking out one batter and walking none. Nick Moran (1-2) picked up the win for Liberty.
