MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee men's and women's cross country will be competing in the Gans Creek Invitational hosted by the University of Missouri on Friday, September 27.
The meet will take place at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Mo. Located on the south side of Columbia, the 320-acre park is a state-of-the-art facility which helps attract state, regional and national meets to the mid-Missouri area. The course is host of the MSHSSA Cross Country Championships, the 2021 SEC Championship and NCAA National Championship in 2025.
The men will be running the reigning Conference USA Athlete of the Week, Brian Kiptoo, and CUSA Freshman of the Week, Allan Kiplagat. It will also be the season debut for last season's fourth place finisher in the CUSA, Vincent Yegon. Jacinto Gaspar, Carmelo Cannizzaro, Sammy Sang, Brendan Nagle and Juan Lucas will also be running for the MTSU men's team.
Last week's Conference USA Freshman of the Week on the women's side, Odilia Jepchumba, will lead the women's team in Columbia followed by Sandra Maiyo, Nancy Maiyo, Eleanor Towe, Lauren Cole, and Hailee Gorham.
The meet will start at 8:00 a.m. CT for the men's 8k and followed by the women at 8:45 a.m. for their 6k. The forecast for the showcase is scattered showers on Friday morning.
