Lebargy, Yordanova Score Twice, Middle Tennessee Earns Second Consecutive Win

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Middle Tennessee women's soccer team (3-3-0) earned its second consecutive victory today with a 5-0 win over the Alabama A&M Bulldogs (1-5-0) at the Bulldog Soccer Field in Huntsville, Ala.
The win today returns Middle Tennessee to .500 on the season with an overall record of 3-3 entering the weekend.
Midfielders Manon Lebargy and Yana Yordanova both helped propel the Blue Raiders to their second win in five days with both players recording a brace, the fourth for Lebargy and the first for Yordanova.
For the fifth time this season, MTSU got on the board first with Lebargy opening the scoring with her fourth goal of the season in the 3rd minute, coming off a Lauren Spaanstra assist.
Freshman Aireona Duenez doubled the Middle Tennessee advantage with her first career goal less than three minutes prior to the halftime whistle, set up by defender Sadie Sterbenz, her third assist in the last two matches.
Just over eight minutes into the second half, Yordanova added a third, unassisted goal to the road tally, as well as her first goal of the season, in the 54th minute, pulling the Blue Raiders 3-0.
Yordanova completed her brace in the 64th minute with her second unassisted goal of the afternoon, putting the Blue Raiders up 4-0 with 25 minutes remaining.
Goalkeeper Demi Gronauer was forced into making her first save of the day in the 66th minute from a shot by Alabama A&M's Jasmine Perez-Acosta. Gronauer would be required to make two more saves down the stretch in the 70th and 75th minutes, maintaining the 4-0 for the Blue Raiders.
20 minutes later, Lebargy completed her brace with her fifth goal of 2024 and the 15th of her career, sealing a 5-0 win in Huntsville for MTSU. Sophomore midfielder Olivia Norton came up with the assist on the final goal, her first career goal contribution.
The Blue Raiders completed their 5-0 win on the road with five goals on a total of 19 opportunities, including 13 shots on target.
Sophomore goalkeeper Calais Butts and defender Allie Draper made their 2024 debuts today against the Bulldogs, with both players logging over 14 minutes of game time.

The Blue Raiders will continue their two-game road stretch as they travel to Nashville, Tenn. for a matchday seven meeting with the Vanderbilt Commodores on Sunday, Sept. 8 at 6 P.M. CT at the Vanderbilt Soccer Complex.
