Women’s Tennis Begins 2025 Season in Fort Myers, Fla. Against FGCU and Minnesota

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee women's tennis team begins its 2025 season in Fort Myers, Fla. tomorrow against the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles and on Saturday against the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
History vs. FGCU and Minnesota
In program history, the Blue Raiders are 1-3 against Florida Gulf Coast in four previous meetings. Their lone win over the Eagles came during the 2015 spring season in a 7-0 victory in Atlanta, Ga.
Saturday's matchup with the Golden Gophers will mark the first meeting between Middle Tennessee and Minnesota.
About Middle Tennessee
During the fall season, the Blue Raiders featured in four tournaments, including playing host for the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals and the MTSU Invitational. During the regionals in October, Graduate student Alessia Truden advanced to the second round of the main singles bracket and narrowly missed the Round of 16 after a three-set loss to Kentucky's Julia Zhu.
In their final action of the fall, Middle Tennessee hosted Western Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky and North Alabama in a round robin tournament. The Blue Raiders defeated the Hilltoppers in a clean sweep during the second round of doubles and took two of three from EKU in the third.
Since the conclusion of the 2024 spring campaign, the Blue Raiders have welcomed three newcomers to the roster for 2025, including Southern Miss transfer Zenn Lim and freshmen Maya Balle and Sara Conde. MTSU will also feature nine returning players this season, including Rutuja Chaphalkar, Cassidy Mataia, Lena Peyer, Hrudaya Shah, Ilaria Sposetti, Eloise Swarbrick, Cara Szilasi, Alessia Truden and Karen Yibirn.

First serve for MTSU vs. Florida Gulf Coast is set for 10 a.m. tomorrow morning, with Saturday match time vs. Minnesota scheduled for 9 a.m.
