DALLAS – Following an astounding opening game of the Cayman Islands Classic, Torey Alston has been voted Conference USA Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon. The award marks his first weekly conference superlative of his career and the first that Middle Tennessee has won in the 2025-26 season.
Alston opened the week up with a five point, six rebound performance at No. 7 Michigan Wednesday. He tacked on two steals, an assist and a block, as well, in Ann Arbor, Mich.
The forward was a main driving force in the Blue Raiders' 90-87 victory over long-time rival Murray State Sunday night, collecting 26 points and 16 rebounds in his first double-double of the season. He collected his points on 12-of-21 shooting from the floor, including three SportsCenter worthy dunks. Alston was a force to be reckoned with on the glass, pulling down four offensive and 12 defensive boards. His 26 points and 16 rebounds marked personal bests for the Durham, N.C., native, who had already secured the double-double at halftime with 17 points and 10 rebounds. His last-second layup before the clock expired to send the teams back to their locker rooms pushed Middle Tennessee's lead out further.
