Blue Raiders travel to Clarksville for showdown with Austin Peay

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Softball will be traveling to Clarksville, Tenn. on Wednesday, Feb. 26 to take on the Austin Peay Governors at 3:00 pm at Cathi Maynard Park. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats can be found at Sidearm Stats.
In the opening weekend of the season at The Spring Games, the Blue Raiders posted a 3-2 record that featured a dominate win vs. Rutgers by a score of 8-1. Jana Want was the star of the weekend where she recorded a .563 batting average, .632 on-base percentage, and a 1.445 OPS. Those marks were all the best by a freshman in Conference USA in the opening week.
Since the opening weekend, the Blue Raiders have not found the same success and have dropped to a record of 4-10. Their last time out at the Mercer Tournament this past weekend, Middle Tennessee won a thriller over Alabama State University on a walk-off home run by Lexi Medlock. Addy Edgmon had a terrific weekend that featured a .416 batting average and two triples. Ava Brooks also had an impressive weekend with a .364 average, four runs scored, and a home run vs. a tough pitching staff from Jacksonville.
Scouting the opponent
Austin Peay – Austin Peay is off to a great start to their 2025 season hoisting an 11-3 record. The Blue Raiders hold an all-time record of 38-18 vs. the Govs while taking the last three matchups and eight of the last 10. Austi Peay is led by head coach Kassie Stanfill who is the all-time winningest head coach in program history and is entering her seventh year. Through her first six seasons, Stanfill has posted a 151-126 record. To begin the season, the Govs are led by Kylie Campbell, who is off to a terrific start, holding a .447 batting average and 1.311 OPS.
