Tori Coffman pitches complete game
LEESBURG, Fla. — Middle Tennessee Softball split their two games on day two of The Spring Games, defeating Cleveland State in the second game and dropping the first to Radford.
The Blue Raiders (2-2, 0-0) trailed for the majority of the game vs. Cleveland State (1-3, 0-0), but in the fifth inning an RBI-single by Jana Want tied the score at one. Not too long after that, Want came up to bat in the seventh inning with a runner on second and the Blue Raiders down to their last out. The freshman came up clutch to keep her hot streak going as she drove home the winning run on a single.
Tori Coffman was dominate on the mound this afternoon, throwing a complete game with five strikeouts. The leadoff batter for the Vikings hit a triple and scored on an error, but from that point on Coffman was lights out giving up just two hits in the following six innings.
The two runs were both recorded by freshmen Macie Harter and Zoe Milonopoulos as they also recorded two hits apiece. The hits were the first in Milonopoulos's collegiate career. In addition to her performance at the plate, Milonopoulos stole a few hits away from the Vikings by making some terrific plays with her glove.
In the first game vs. Radford (2-2, 0-0), Leila Ammon dominated in relief while pitching 2.2 shutout innings and gave up just one base hit, while striking out three. Three Blue Raiders recorded two hits in the game: Anyce Harvey, Ava Tepe and Jana Want.
